How does gini work?
A

gini works by securely accessing your transaction data in read-only mode. That means it can only view your encrypted transactions.

When you provide the online banking username and password, this simply establishes a secure one-way read-only connection with your bank allowing gini to download your transactions, balances, and bill due dates on your behalf directly to your device instead of via our server.

Is gini directly associated with any of the local banks listed?
A

No. We are using a third-party software eWise that allows us to import and aggregate your financial data securely. In this way, we are able to handle your credentials (user and PIN) with utmost secrecy and never store them anywhere in our server.

Is gini free?
A

gini is free to download. Users are allowed to use the current features on gini at no charge. If there are any changes to this, we will notify our users way ahead of time.

How can I hide the amount?
A

Don’t want to see how much you spend in gini?

Here’s how you to hide the amounts on different pages:

1. Click Settings in the Profile.
2. Go to Hide the amounts.
3. Choose which page you want to hide the amounts.

Why are my recent transactions missing?
A

Gini operates on a one-time, read-only access and simply downloads the transactions on your behalf. For some banks, a new One-Time Password is sent to you every time you login for security reasons. Upon successful login, the latest data will be securely retrieved.

Can I change the transaction name and do some categorisation?
A

You can! Simply click on the transaction, tap on the ‘3 dots’ (top right corner of the popup), and tap on the transaction name to change it. As for the category, simply tap on the other category icons to re-assign the category of your choice.

Every small act counts. For the few uncategorized or miscategorized transactions, we encourage our gini community to be part of this fintech revolution by telling us what they have spent on.

Can I disconnect/delete any bank anytime?
A

Yes. User can disconnect with any bank anytime. Click the ‘+’ on the right top corner of Feed page, swipe the bank you want to disconnect to the LEFT, and you will see a ‘Delete’ option. If you wish to disconnect all the banks, you also have the option of  ‘Wipe all data’ when you go to ‘Log Out’ in ‘Settings’. All record and data will be removed on both device and server.

What do the two passwords on HSBC login page refer to?
A

To login with to your HSBC on gini, the only option is the Dual-password method. All HSBC users have 2 passwords: the Memorable Answer and the Password and they are both different.

For the 2nd Password, HSBC usually asked 3 characters/digits of the password randomly. On gini, you simply have to fill this password in full.

What do the two passwords on Hang Seng Bank login page refer to?

To login with to your Hang Seng on gini, the only option is the Dual-password method. All Hang Seng users have 2 passwords: the First Password and the Second Password.

For the 2nd Password, Hang Seng Bank usually asked 3 characters/digits of the password randomly. On gini, you simply have to input both passwords in full.
