In order to obtain a residence permit, you are required to invest TWD6,000,000 (equivalent to HKD1,500,000) in an active business in Taiwan or any kind of investment that is deemed to contribute to Taiwan’s economy. After one year of residency, you then become eligible to apply for the permanent residence permit.

Entrepreneur Visa

Although the application threshold is comparatively lower for such a Visa, meeting the criteria is not easy at all. For example, applicants should have received venture capital investment or international fundraising of more than NT$ 2million or have obtained patent rights or professional skills certificate.

General Skilled Migration (GSM)

Applicants should be capable enough to have received related certifications in Hong Kong regarding their profession in order to gain the residence permit of Taiwan.

Academic Migration

Graduates from local universities who are employed afterwards are required to stay in Taiwan for 5 consecutive years before they can apply for their permanent residence permit. Besides, their monthly income in their 5th year of stay has to be around NTD 42,000 (equivalent to 10,440HKD) in order to apply.

Malaysia

You don’t necessarily need to go far! With the rise of recent migration trends, more and more Hongkongers consider moving to Malaysia. MM2H is not a strange phrase to you.

Want to start a new life without changing much of your lifestyle? Many share the same thoughts with you!

Not only is it close to Hong Kong geographically, the two places share similar languages, communicating with English and Chinese and even Cantonese. Although the weather is relatively hot, stable politics and low cost of living made it one of the most popular migration destinations.

Malaysia My Second Home Programme (MM2H)

In fact, Malaysia does not have an official immigration policy. Malaysia My Second Home Programme – MM2H implemented by The Government of Malaysia allows applicants to hold a 10-year visa, encouraging foreigners to retire and settle down.

Without a minimum period of stay, you can choose for how long you want to stay in Malaysia. You can also bring along your spouse, children below 21 who are not married and parents over 60.

Although this programme does not offer permanent residence, applicants’ children would still enjoy local education and overseas study benefits. More than that, you can also enjoy tax discounts!

Different states possess different immigration policies. In order to attract more investors and entrepreneurs, Australian government has launched a set of standard framework.

For most Hong Kongers, they would choose “188A” or “188C”, both of them belongs to the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa.

“188C” is a 4-year temporary visa, which is available to applicants who are nominated by an Australian State or Territory government, and suitable for applicants who are willing to make an AUD 5 million investment in Australia. Moreover, applicants are required to stay there for 160 days only within a year.

For “188A”, it pays less attention to the amount of investment but the turnover is crucial.

General Skilled Migration (GSM)

Academic background, work experience and professional skills can back you up when applying for a temporary work visa in Australia. Depending on whether you are applying for the short-term, mid-term or the labour visa, you will have different requirements to meet.

Some of the fields and professions qualified for the GSM include technology development, engineering, architecture and medicine.

Business Skills Migration

Currently, the Business Skills Migration system is only in place in Quebec.

The threshold is pretty high, stating that applicants have to possess at least 2 years of experience as a member of the senior management team or a shareholder.

Besides, the applicant has to own assets valued at 1.6 million Canadian dollar (equivalent to 9.38 million HKD), including property, stocks and cash.

That is not all, applicants also have to be willing to invest 350 thousand Canadian dollar (equivalent to 210 thousand HKD) in government-designated financial institutions.

General Skilled Migration (GSM)

In order to attract talents and boost the labour force, the Canadian Federal Government put forward the General Skilled Migration system.

Applicants who take up occupations listed in the A/B section of the Canadian NOC list, at the same time fulfilling the requirements stated in those sections, will be considered by the system. Once admitted, applicants will be qualified to work and live permanently in Canada.
